Louisa is an Irish actress best known for her role as Orla McCool in the Channel 4 sitcom Derry Girls. She has two older sisters, Katie and Ellie Harland. She was born in Dublin to a Northern Irish father.  Her voice is naturally deep.

She was a member of Rathfarnham’s Ann Kavanagh Youth Theatre.

She trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. On stage, Louisa starred in the one-woman show COTTON FINGERS with National Theatre Wales and performed in a sell-out run at the Royal Court of Glass. KILL. BLUEBEARD. IMP; a collection of new plays by Caryl Churchill. Most recently, she starred as Agnes in DANCING AT LUGHNASA at the National Theatre. Harland won a recurring role as Kayleigh in the RT One series Love/Hate in 2011. She later appeared in Woody Harrelson’s Lost in London and Rob Burke’s Standby (2014). Harland was cast as Orla McCool, the quirky cousin of Erin Quinn (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), in the Channel 4 series Derry Girls in 2017. The first series premiered in 2018. Se played the leading role in the comedy/horror feature film Boys from Country Hell. She will be playing in the highly-anticipated new Disney+ series, RENEGADE NELL She will be playing Nell Jackson. She will have the leading role. Most recently, she starred as Agnes in DANCING AT LUGHNASA at the National Theatre, directed by Josie Rourke, and in David Ireland’s play ULSTER AMERICAN, opposite Woody Harrelson and Andy Serkis.
