His first film debut was in 2009, where he played young Jim Kazama in Tekken. He appeared in Nickelodeon’s Legendary Dudas regularly as Carter. Liu played the role of Shuji, the brother of Maya Erskine’s character, in the Hulu comedy series PEN15. Liu played Taylor King in Snapchat’s Players and Ruihua, Awkwafina’s brother, in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In honor of Seven Minutes in Heaven’s tenth anniversary, Liu performed a virtual reading of the play on September 26, 2020. He plays the character of Zuko in the live-action television adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
